1ST STEP: CHECKING THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS
This first step is the simplest but also one of the most important. Before starting any installation, it is necessary to take stock of the speed hump elements to make sure that you have all the speed hump elements according to the desired final total length. The yellow and black retarder elements are modular. This means that you can opt for a custom length depending on the size of the road.
In no case should you forget to also take stock of the available fixings to make sure that nothing is missing.
The installation of the speed reducer is very simple as long as the lying gendarme is fixed on a hard, flat and safe ground.
If the floor has signs of wear or even holes, we recommend that you use our cold floor maintenance mix to repair your floor.
2ND STEP: INSTALLATION OF THE SPEED REDUCER
Arrange all the elements in the center of the road, where you want to install the speed bumps.
Mount the elements end to end according to the desired length.
It is also possible to add semi-circular finishing stops at the ends of the retarder to fix it.
Place the retarder on the road at the desired location. Be careful, do not forget to leave space on each side of the retarder for water flow.
STEP 3: FIXING THE LYING GENDARME
Once the speed bump is placed on the road, all that’s left is to fix it.
To do this, simply drill holes directly into the ground through the pre-drilled holes that have the slowing elements. Then remove the modular retarder elements, place a dowel in each drilled hole and hammer it in with a hammer.
Finally, replace the speed stop parts over the holes and screw the lag screws into each dowel with a screwdriver.
BONUS: SIGNAGE TO BE PLACED AROUND THE SPEED BUMP
When there is a speed bump on a public road, traffic signs must be installed. On private roads, signage is not mandatory but recommended to ensure maximum safety for the various users (motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, etc.).
So remember to warn of the presence of the retarder and install signs indicating the authorized speed in line with the height of the retarder:
- A 70 mm high speed bump can be crossed at a maximum speed of approximately 15 km/h.
- A 50 mm high speed hump can be crossed at a maximum speed of approximately 30 km/h.
- A 30 mm high speed hump can be crossed at a maximum speed of approximately 40 km/h.
